Since overlapping subnets are allowed in device42, POST call to subnet APIs for a given network and mask bits would result in a new subnet being created.
Workaround
Subnets are unique by vrf group, network and mask bits. So if you pass vrf_group_id, network and mask bits, you can modify an existing subnet.
