Bulk Lifecycle Management
CompletedDevice42 Team -
Today Device42 supports lifecycle management changes at the individual device level, which is great. It's really helpful to have the power to note when something was inventoried, purchased, or deployed.
However, there are huge drawbacks to using this feature in our business operations as there is no way of bulk updating the data. In other words, if we deploy 100 servers, we have to click into each server to note when / where / how these have changed in the life cycle. It would be really helpful if I could select multiple devices and apply to them the same lifecycle update.
Also, with the addition of this feature, it would be great if the lifecycle data can be exported out. In other words, I want to be able to export a list of devices that includes for example the date the equipment was deployed.
How can we add this to future iterations of the software?
Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,
You can make changes in bulk for lifecycle events using the excel import under Tools > Imports/Exports. You can export the certain devices from the device using the action menu and then using the lifecycle events sample sheet, you can add that to excel and import the excel file to make that change in bulk.
To export, please go to Reports > Reports > Add > Lifecycle reports, here you can filter by events or choose a date and export the lifecycle events.
Does that help with what you are looking to achieve?
Thanks.

Ivan,
We have added an action menu to assign lifecycle events in bulk in v51.2.0: http://blog.device42.com/2014/10/full-rack-connectivity-with-pdu-outlets-and-network-ports-including-drag-and-drop-with-v5-12-0/
Thanks.
