API device removal

i'm working on integrating device42 with several internal systems for virtual machine creation and removal. The last thing I need to add is the equivalent of the web interface: device->edit->delete option. I cannot see how this can be achieved in http://api.device42.com/ . I'm happily removing the connected IP addresses, but can't figure out how to delete the device. As it's a VM it doesn't isn't an asset, but even then can't see how it would be done with a life cycle event?

So in short what is the API equivalent to the website URL .../admin/rackraj/device/<deviceID>/edit/delete/
