    Hi Jens and Joel,

Please take a look at new approach for circuit custom fields as added in v5.9.3: http://blog.device42.com/2014/09/circuit-custom-fields-and-api-enhancements-in-v5-9-3/

This adds drop down for pre-defined values and also filtering for custom fields. Also, all fields show up for all circuits.

We are considering making similar UI changes to all other objects in Device42 that have custom fields. So, please try it out and chime in with your feedback on this topic.

    Thanks.

I just tested it and it is much better. I believe it would be a big improvement if all custom fields worked like this. I couldn't get the date picker working (only tested in Firefox), but other than that, it worked fine.

I couldn't see an option for making a field mandatory/required which is what this feature request is mainly about.

    Hi Jens,

Thanks for feedback. This particularly address "dropdowns with predefined values" part of the request. We are still exploring the mandatory field options as we have to consider how to handle APIs and auto-discovery etc.

    Regards.

I think this is going down the right path, but the drop down and predefined fields still allow for a text box value 2 next to them.

From an object profile perspective, the custom fields feel like an after thought.  If something is mandatory, I want it front and center with the rest of the attributes.

    All,

We have added mandatory fields option in v6.1.0: http://blog.device42.com/2014/12/libvirt-auto-discovery-custom-fields-overhaul-and-security-fixes-in-v6-1-0/

Still not front and center - but you won't be able to edit an object unless required custom field value is filled out.

    Thanks.
