Additional Features to Transfers
There are a couple of changes that would make Transfer work better for us. We have assets in other states and countries. When I create the transfer, that works great! What I would like to do is:
- Add a drop down for UPS, Fedex or any other carrier. Since most carriers use a specifically formatted URL for tracking, you could put a text box that appends the tracking number to the URL based on carrier.
- I would like to specify where the transfer is going to. We track asset locations for tax purposes. This would help in the report to make sure finance has a scheduled and updated report.
- I would like to add a note to each transfer so that I can see why it is being transferred. This might also be used for an internal ticketing system that has a project tied to it. You might also consider adding a name to the transfer instead of date, or use date if the name is NULL.
- Also, I would like to batch edit the received by, date, time and room portion of the transfer. We transfer quite a bit of assets at a time. So the feature becomes less efficient the more items we ship.
- Once it has been received, I would like to take that lifecycle event and bring it into reporting.
-
We have addressed a number of these items in v5.9.0:
In the Transfer Locations screen, you will now see the following fields:
- Shipper: This is a drop down field and you can add additional shippers to the dropdown
- URL: This is a text box where you can put the url for tracking
- Tracking number: Store the tracking number here.
- Notes: Add notes here
- Transfer To: This is a text field where you can record your 'transfer to' location
- Transfer Name: As suggested, each transfer can now be named. Also, when the transfer is created, a 'Transfer Initiated' lifecycle event is now created for each device and asset. When an asset or device is received, a 'Transfer Received' lifecycle event is now created.
You can filter and display lifecycle events in the asset, device, and lifecycle events reports. Please note that the new 'Has Been..." and "Has Not Been...' filters that you will find in the asset and device reports refer to lifecycle events.
