Subnet Tree Enhancements
CompletedHi,
The subnet tree is great but would be more useful to me with a few enhancements:
- Have way to toggle on/off fully fleshed out IPv4 subnets (not such a good idea for IPv6), i.e. to populate the full list of IPs that exist in the subnet whether they are listed in the DB or not. This would make it a great tool for visualising how well populated subnets are and spot chunks of free space you might want to allocate to a new project. In effect it's re-introducing a feature that's inherent in managing IPs with a spreadsheet that you lose when moving to D42.
- Show the name and label fields in the tree for known IP's
- Click-through navigation to subnets and IPs - I know you can right-click and open in a new tab but that's a really clunky user experience.

Hugh,
Good points. Acknowledged.
Meanwhile for #1, you can bulk add IPs from Tools > Templates & Bulk Operations > Bulk IP Operations, although not quite as same as what you are looking for.
For #2, the device name is displayed next to IP(if available). Adding label is a good idea.
Regards,
Rick.

Hugh,
We have addressed #2 and #3 as per your suggestion.
IP address label is shown in brackets, if available.
Subnets and IPs are now clickable and open up view page for that object in a popup.

Hi Hugh,
Just a quick note that in subnet tree when you add a new IP - it lets you pick from a list of all the IPs that have not been added to Device42 yet.
Thanks.

I get that you can choose from unused IPs when creating a new device, but without going through the process of "mock" creating something, there's currently no easy way to see a list of the unused IPs in a given subnet.
When you click a subnet, it shows you how many IPs have been used, and how many are unused. Clicking the "Show IPs" link shows you the used ones, which is great. Simply duplicate that link/functionality, but only have it report unused IPs.
