    Jens,

     Thanks for kind words.

    1. For AD groups: this is a great suggestion. I will bring this up internally and post back here.

    2. Again great point and adding vcenter in auto-discovery is on our list already. Few exciting changes are in works already for auto-discovery client and hopefully we can bundle this soon as well.

    Regards,

    Raj Jalan

I'm looking for the same capabilities with AD. With the AD Sync it would be useful to also have the option of choosing how often it runs. The group I want to use for controlling access to this won't change all that often so I would not need the sync to run all of the time. Maybe give us the option of running the AD sync on a schedule and/or also run it manually?

Starting with v322, we have added an option to manual sync AD/LDAP group members with device42.

    ?name=add_ad_group_members.png

Using Tools > Admins & Permissions > Add AD group members, you can now get group members from AD based on the DN and add those in bulk in device42. You can control permissions by choosing local groups these users would be added to.
This topic is covered in more detail this blog post about bulk adding Active Directory group members.

    Jens,

VMware vCenter auto-discovery is now part of device42 auto-discovery options. You can now connect to vCenter server or ESX server and get host and VM details. More details at our latest blog post labeled: automated data center inventory with vmware auto-discovery.

You can grab the latest update from http://www.device42.com/update/

    Regards,

    Rick.
