Request for generic

We have shelves in our racks that are not systems. Is it possible to add a generic device that can be used multiple times instead of having to create a device for each non-device?

   Great point. This is on our road-map. Next version will have non-IP based assets that will not count towards device licenses, so patch panels, air fillers etc. can be added as assets. There would not be unique naming requirement also for these. Here is the a brief write-up on upcoming asset management: http://blog.device42.com/2012/06/introducing-asset-inventory-management/.

  For later releases, we would work on a module so you would be add these in racks for visual display.

  Do you think that would cover your requirements?

  Starting with v311(release with comprehensive IT asset and inventory management), you can now display non-IP based assets in a rack.
