How to add ports to devices

If the device is exist on the system we have two options:

• we can add ports to this device by navigating to its settings page then click "Edit" from the right-hand side and click "Add New Connectivity" under "Connectivity" tab:

then we can select any existing port to add, or create a new port:

•  Go to Tools > Imports/Exports (xls) then download:
   Create or update ports > Download Sample Excel File
  the Excel spreadsheet is based on our API call, the main fields which are required are the "port" and "switch"  the switch can be any device name (not mandatory to be a network device).

then upload the file from the same location and import:

If you are creating a device for the first time and you will assign a hardware model to it, the process will be more easier.

go to the hardware model settings page, then under "Direct Ports" tab use either 
Add another Direct Port (this will enable you to add a single port with its attributes)
or 
Bulk Add Direct Ports (this will enable you to add several ports automatically with type, and prefix)

We need to be sure that we select the option "Add Ports When Creating Device" from the same page, this will generate the ports on the device when a hardware model is selected during the device creation phase.

Finally when we create a device manually and assign the hardware model, all defined ports on the hardware model settings page will be created automatically on the device and shown under the "Connectivity" tab of the device settings page.
