Why you need Nix/Windows Discovery in addition to VM discovery
Tim Mickens
In Device42, we are able to discover VMs in a few ways. It is recommended that VMs are discovered in at least ways to ensure we gather all the metadata on the VMs.
It is recommended you first discover VMs from your VMware, Hypervisor, etc…any of your virtual environments we support. With discovery from these environments, we will be able to gather Powered on State, OS, System Properties, RAM, CPU, and additional Notes from the VM environments.
For the second discovery, you will use the Nix or Windows discovery or Agents, in which these discovery methods will be able to pull in the additional metadata including Software, Application Components, and Mount/Drive information.
