- Please follow the below steps/guidelines for updating the Device42 Main Appliance from version 17.10 - 18.xx
- A user with access to the Device 42 Virtual Appliance and login to the Appliance Manager console.
- Download the update from this link: https://device42.com/update
- Backup your data:
- 1) Perform a Virtual Machine Snapshot using the Hypervisor native snapshot functionality.
- 2) Backup up the Device42 Main Appliance data following these instructions. Requires access to the Appliance Manager.

- 3) Log into the Appliance Manager, navigate to Application then select Update Software. Browse to the downloaded update file and choose "Upload"
- 4) After the file has been uploaded log into the Virtual Appliance via the Console and select option #3, "Apply Update". Once the update has been applied the services will restart and you will be returned to the login prompt.

- Post upgrade check:
- Verify Main Appliance Login via Web UI.
- Verify Appliance Manager Login via Web UI.
- From the Discovery Menu navigate to the Remote Collectors option and select that to verify the Remote Collectors are online and are being updated.
- From the same menu option above, verify the Windows Discovery Service (WDS) is connected successfully.
- Navigate throughout the UI and verify all new features are accessible. If not accessible, ensure you have the proper permissions to access these features.
- Check Discovery Job Schedules that are due to execute and verify they execute normally. .
- Navigate to Reports, Advanced or Classic depending on what you have configured and verify you can access existing report data.
- Results of each test. (Pass/Fail).

- If a test failed and needs to be retested add that information here:
- The test plan should be repeatable for Production and Dev/Test environments and used for future upgrades.
